About the Italian Course

The standard Italian language is based on the Tuscan dialect of Florence, which is now spoken by more than 70 million people. The province’s well-known, rich culture and art are reflected in the language itself. Italian is the unofficial language of love, music, and art. If any language could be charming and seductive at the same time, it would be Italian. Whether you’ve visited Italy, seen an Italian film, or seen Italians passionately gesticulating while talking, you couldn’t have remained indifferent to its charms. Want to learn or perfect your Italian? Dante is the right place for you!

The classes are held in a motivating and creative environment, in which learner needs are in the centre of attention. Classes are creative and fun – we believe laughter is a key component of the learning process.

SMALL GROUPS

Working in small groups ensures that each learner can get the attention they need from their teacher. The materials and activities used in the course are designed so that each learner in the group has the opportunity to speak up and actively participate in the lesson. The number of participants is limited because we believe this way of teaching and learning results in the best outcomes.

Group courses are held in the afternoon, following a fixed schedule drawn up at the beginning of each semester. A semester consists of 70 lessons, which includes both the teaching and the evaluation process. Each course is held twice a week for 90 minutes. Each academic year comprises two semesters or 140 academic hours.

ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION

At Dante, learners can also attend one-on-one classes that are tailored to learner’s needs and desires. The content, dates, and times of one-on-one lessons can be adjusted to suit individual schedules and needs.

“I liked the expertise and preparedness of the teacher and the reading, writing, listening, and speaking exercises, all of which are very important when learning a foreign language. The entire staff was also kind and welcoming.”

Maja Gajić

“I loved working in a small group because we had more opportunities to practice speaking. The classes are dynamic, with many different methods that better support learning.”

Eda Žužić

The CILS certificate is an officially recognised qualification that assesses the level of communicative competence in the Italian language. The CILS certificate is the first Italian qualification conforming to the European Council’s  Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It comprises six levels of communicative competence, from A1 to C2.

Dante is one of three institutions in Croatia and the only one in Rijeka where you can take the international Italian CILS exam!

We also offer certification exams for court interpreters and preparation courses for taking the CILS exam.

Certificates and partnerships

Our language courses are verified by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia. At the end of the semester, participants take an exam to obtain a certificate of competence in a foreign language.
