ONE STEP UP

ONE-STEP-UP project is all about attracting people to lifelong learning, since it is key to increasing social inclusion.

Teaching of basic skills to adults with low qualifications is probably one of the most difficult tasks in adult education. Solving the needs of long-term unemployed persons; migrants; refugees and indigenous ethnic minorities requires considerable skill and dedication. In spite of that, at least anecdotally, educators working with these groups are usually those with the least amount of training and resources.

The project’s general goal is to enable access to lifelong learning to most vulnerable adult learners, especially those who lack basic skills or have low to no qualifications, so as to provide functioning education to most disadvantaged groups and support their inclusion into society and the economy.

The project’s secondary goal is to support experts in adult education, who are key mediators in helping adult learners with low qualifications to enter into adult education and the labour market, in the development of their digital and pedagogical skills so as to enable more accessible and flexible entry points to adults with low qualifications into adult education.

These goals are directly related to our priorities:

• improving availability and participation in adult education
• participation in all areas of education, and increased availability of high-quality learning opportunities for adults
