About the project

ON-CALL project deals with health literacy of adults. Teaching topics such as health literacy to adults with low qualifications is best done by specially trained professionals. Unfortunately, available resources and training courses for experts are scarce, as are adequate education materials necessary to develop needed specialised skills. The ON-CALL consortium will create its own training course for the local populace aimed at developing skills necessary to obtain the qualification of family health consultant. This will create opportunities for upgrading knowledge in this really important, but underserviced area.

Health literacy is just as important as any other form of literacy. People who do not possess adequate health literacy are marginalised and excluded from numerous opportunities that many Europeans take for granted. Health consultants trained within the ON-CALL project will engage 240 disadvantaged families in 8 partner countries, supporting the development of health literacy skills that are indispensable for enabling one to make informed decisions for a healthy life.
